About Lowest Cost ELDT

Lowest Cost ELDT is the online Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory provider operated by Novio ELD LLC. We are listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) under the name “Lowest Cost ELDT”, we teach the theory portion of ELDT online, and we report every completion to the registry for you. Nothing else: no behind-the-wheel training, no classroom, no upsells.

This page says who we are, how to check us on the federal registry yourself, and what happens after you finish a course.

What we offer

Six ELDT theory courses, each $20, one-time, with lifetime access, quiz retakes at no extra cost and automatic reporting to the TPR:

ELDT is a federal rule (49 CFR Part 380), so the same course is accepted in 49 states. The exception is Washington, whose Department of Licensing only accepts training from Washington-registered schools. Behind-the-wheel training is a separate, in-person step with a registered school or instructor (not needed for hazmat); our guide on ELDT theory vs behind-the-wheel explains why the two halves are separate, and our CDL school directory lists registered behind-the-wheel providers by state and ZIP code. State-by-state steps and fees are on ELDT training by state.

How to verify us on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry

A website calling itself “FMCSA-registered” is its own claim. The registry is the check that counts, and it takes two minutes:

  1. Open tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov and choose Find a training provider. Set the training type to Online and search for “Lowest Cost ELDT”. The listing should show the training types you plan to take.
  2. Check that we are not on the registry’s public Removed or In Review lists. Training given after a provider’s removal date does not count, so this is worth doing for any provider, including the school you pick for behind-the-wheel. Our guide Is your ELDT provider still on the FMCSA registry? walks through both lists.
  3. After you finish a course, look yourself up on the registry’s Check Your Record page. If the theory completion is there, the state will see it too.

The registry is a U.S. government site; some connections from outside the United States or through a VPN get a “403 Forbidden” error. A regular U.S. connection, such as your phone’s mobile data, works.

What happens after you finish

You pass every module quiz with 80% or higher (retakes are free). As soon as your state-issued permit or license number is in your profile, we submit your theory completion to the Training Provider Registry automatically, usually within minutes, and you receive a certificate of completion. Your state licensing agency checks the registry record, not the certificate, before your CDL skills test or, for hazmat, the knowledge test. See how to check your ELDT record on the TPR.

Questions people ask about us

Is Lowest Cost ELDT legit?
Yes. Lowest Cost ELDT is operated by Novio ELD LLC and is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) as an online theory provider under the name "Lowest Cost ELDT". You do not have to take our word for it: search the registry at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov, check that we are not on the public Removed or In Review lists, and read our reviews on Trustpilot. After you finish a course, your completion is sent to the TPR automatically, usually within minutes, and you can see it yourself on the registry's driver record check.
Why is Lowest Cost ELDT only $20 per course?
ELDT theory is a fixed federal curriculum (49 CFR Part 380), delivered online with automatic quizzes and automatic reporting to the registry. There is no classroom, no instructor hours and no truck involved in the theory part, so we price it at $20 per course and keep the same price for everyone, including CDL schools. Behind-the-wheel training is a separate purchase from a school you choose.
Does Lowest Cost ELDT offer behind-the-wheel training?
No. We teach the theory portion of ELDT online. Behind-the-wheel training for Class A, Class B, the B-to-A upgrade and the passenger and school bus endorsements must be done in person with a registered provider. Hazmat is theory only. Our CDL school directory lists registered behind-the-wheel providers by state and ZIP code.
Is the training accepted in my state?
ELDT is a federal requirement, so the same online theory course is accepted in 49 states. The exception is Washington, whose Department of Licensing only accepts training from Washington-registered schools. Your state licensing agency checks the Training Provider Registry, not a paper certificate, before your CDL skills test or hazmat knowledge test.
How do I contact Lowest Cost ELDT?
